The UNDP Peru and governmental partners support the creation and consolidation of the Alto Purús National Park to guarantee the provision of water and food for the livelihoods of communities and people in isolation, as well as the protection of the forest.

This is the story of the Dulce Gloria community, the first indigenous association to receive a concession to protect 45,669 hectares of Amazon rainforests.

Amazon Defenders


The story of Deyanira Mishari, Head Leader of the Protection Forest and Rosalina Machari, an Indigenous Woman Guardian of the Ashaninka territory.

UNDP & SERNANP work in two major landscapes, which harbors the largest natural and cultural diversity of the country, and that is home to the last indigenous peoples in isolation and initial contact. The final aim is to reach a participative management, where the State and citizens can bolster their capacities in order to properly manage the amazon territory.

Cloud Forests: Where Life Begins


A journey through the altitudinal gradient uniting icy peaks and the Peruvian rainforest.

Allied with the Peruvian Ministry of Environment and other cooperation partners, the United Nations Development Programme Peru (UNDP Peru) supports conservation areas that guarantee the protection of ecosystems and the supply of fundamental services for its communities’ wellbeing and sustainable development.

Andean Terraces


In southern Peru, a small farmers’ association fights climate change with the help of its ancestral knowledge: a system of terraces and irrigation channels that will serve to optimize water, prevent soil erosion and protect their crops.

The GEF Small Grants Programme is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the support of Peru´s Ministry of Environment (MINAM).
